Girlguiding Goostrey

Welcome to the Goostrey Village Website Goostrey has a Rainbow unit (girls 5-7) a Brownie unit (girls 7-10) two Guide units (girls 10-14) a Senior Section unit (girls and young women 14-25) and a Trefoil Guild (18 - infinity). HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED. We could offer more opportunities to more girls if we had more adult support. Guiding gives you the opportunity to use your talents, learn new skills, develop yourself and make new friends! Guiding today means working with girls and young women - it demands time and energy, but is very rewarding and great fun. Guilding offers its leaders the chance of making a personal contribution to the future and, at the same time, to widen their own horizons. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact us on the number below or through our county webside - we will give you a great welcome. The different units meet in different venues around the village. Brownies and 2nd Goostrey Guide Unit meet weekly on Mondays. Rainbows and 3rd Goostrey Guide Unit meet weekly on Thursdays. Jodrell Senior Section met at various times and venues. Jodrell Trefoil Guild meet on the first Tuesday of each month. Guiding provides a girl-only and girl-led experience for all girls and young women. Our principles are based on working in small groups, caring for the individual, the encouragement of self-government, variety of age-appropriate and up-to-date activities and a belief in a personal and community common standard. Goostrey guiding is part of Cheshire Border guide county where there are 210 units, over 600 volunteering adults and around 4,300 girls and young women. The county has a webside www.girlguidingcheshireborder.org.uk where our vast variety of activities and opportunities can be seen. Special Events - Girlguiding UK is 100 years old in 2010 and Goostrey Guiding will be celebrating this in several ways including an exciting launch party in September 2009 at Congleton Park and a huge finale at Macclesfield Football Ground on 10th October 2010 when, at 20:10 20/10 2010 we will join with all the guides across the UK in remaking our Promise.
