PARISH COUNCIL NEWSLETTER
MAY 2006
PARISH COUNCIL ELECTION
As there have been only five nominations for the Parish Council, there will be no election for the Parish Council in May.

It will therefore be necessary to co-opt five more persons to serve on the Parish Council for the next four years. The Parish Council, which is non political, cannot operate efficiently for the benefit of the Parish of Goostrey without a complement of ten Councillors. It is necessary for five persons, on the electoral role of the Parish of Goostrey, to come forward for co-option onto the Parish Council. Interested persons should contact the Parish Clerk on 537009 or 535825 as soon as possible.

It has to be stressed that without a full complement of Councillors, the Parish Council will not have an effective voice in dealing with matters affecting the population and environment of the district including matters relating to planning. The various Committees of the Parish Council including the Village Hall Management Committee will not be fully operational. In short, the services to this community provided by the Parish Council could be compromised.
