Local Council elections including those for the Parish Council will take place on Thursday 4th May.
Any Goostrey resident may stand for election. At present the age limit is 21 although this is expected to change
very shortly to 18. The 'Notice of Election' will be published on 30th March and will be posted on the Parish Council
notice boards.
This 2006 Annual Parish Meeting will take place on Tuesday 25th April at 7.30 in the Village Hall. The Council would
like to remind you that this is your meeting and hope that as many of you as possible will attend. The speakers for
this year have yet to be finalised so please read next month's Newsletter for more details.
With Spring just around the corner, this is the time to remind you of the Open Garden Day. The date has been set
for 2nd July and the arrangements will be similar to last year. We hope that the beautiful gardens seen last year
will be open again plus some new ones. Remember, your garden does not have to be perfect, just somewhere that might
be of interest to other gardeners or a pleasant place to wander around and maybe sit for a cup of tea on a Summers Day.
Maps of the open gardens will be available for £1 and proceeds will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Relief and Barnardos.
Entry forms will be available from the reception area in the Village Hall and from the local shops nearer to the date.
The Parish Office in the Village Hall is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from approx 9.30 to 12.30.
One reason you might want to visit the Parish Office is to view planning applications. All applications for Goostrey
are kept on file here and are available for inspection at any reasonable time, by arrangement with the Parish Clerk,
Denise Draper. Denise can be contacted on 535825 during the above hours or on 537009 at other times.
