ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
The Parish Council was pleased to host the Annual Parish Meeting of 2006 on 25th April and would like to thank the 56 residents who attended and contributed to a lively and informative evening.

Apart from the usual business items the subject of the proposed new Youth Centre was discussed at length with arguments for and against being presented. The Chairman closed the debate by expressing the hope that all parties would work to seek common ground.

The fact that the Station Building is in danger of demolition (or at the very least having its canopy removed) was reported. Every single person at the meeting was in favour of saving the station building and steps are being taken to determine if it could qualify for listed building status. Volunteers are urgently needed to form a 'Friends of Goostrey Station' group. Would anyone interested please contact the Parish Clerk.

Speakers included Jonathan Robinson, the Goostrey Homewatch Co-ordinator, who has recently had Homewatch information distributed to every home in the Village. He explained how the network of members provide a two-way information and warning link with the Police.

Chris Mallet, the Goostrey Tree Warden, explained his role in monitoring and preserving local trees and asked for suggestions for planting of trees and shrubs in public areas in the Autumn.

Helen de Lemos, Cheshire County Council's Waste Strategy Manager, turned the subject of waste into a very entertaining topic in order to promote awareness of the three R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)
