PARISH COUNCIL NEWSLETTER
SEPTEMBER  2005
VILLAGE HALL SOUND SYSTEM
As a result of many requests from different organisations and from individuals, the Parish Council has had improvements made to the sound system in the Village Hall. For those who rely on a hearing aid, an Induction Loop System has been installed and for those who simply want a clearer sound, a new amplification system had also been provided.

The Parish Council trusts that this will now very much improve the quality of sound within the Hall both generally and for those whose hearing is seriously impaired.
BURGLAR ALARM REGISTRATION
Cheshire Police have sent the Parish Council a request to ask all Residents who have not yet done so to register through the Local Authority that they have a burglar alarm and the key holders who can switch it off if it goes off accidentally.

The Police say that 92% of alarm soundings are due to faulty installations or user error and that a continuously sounding alarm can result in a Statutory Nuisance under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. If this is found to be the case, the Council can take action to silence the alarm which may lead to a charge to the householder of £200!

It is very much in your interests, therefore, to register your key holders simply by completing a form available from the Parish Clerk or by writing to Congleton Borough Council, Environmental Health Division, 3 Lawton Road, Alsager, ST7 2AE.
PARISH ARCHIVIST
As a result of the item on Parish Archives in the last Newsletter, it has been suggested to the Parish Council that somebody local may be willing to take on the honorary position of Parish Archivist. If anybody is interested in undertaking such a role, would they please contact the Parish Clerk or any Parish Councillor.
TEMPORARY RAILWAY CLOSURES
In order for the upgrading work on the railway to be completed, the line will be closed between Crewe and Cheadle all day every Saturday from 25th September to 10th December 2005 and then every day from 11th December 2005 to 26th March 2006.
