Whilst a number of Residents have already taken up burglar alarm registration, here is a reminder of this item from the
September newsletter.
Cheshire Police have sent the Parish Council a request to ask all Residents who have not yet done so to register through
the Local Authority that they have a burglar alarm and the key holders who can switch it off if it goes off accidentally.
The Police say that 92% of alarm soundings are due to faulty installations or user error and that a continuously sounding
alarm can result in a Statutory Nuisance under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. If this is found to be the case,
the Council can take action to silence the alarm which may lead to a charge to the householder of £200!
It is very much in your interests, therefore, to register your key holders simply by completing a form available from the
Parish Clerk or by writing to Congleton Borough Council, Environmental Health Division, 3 Lawton Road, Alsager, ST7 2AE.
In response to a number of requests, Residents are reminded that details of local planning applications can be viewed
in the Parish Office which is located in the Village Hall at the end of the corridor up the short flight of stairs.
The Office is currently open most week days from around 8.30am to 10.30am but arrangements can be made with the Parish
Clerk to open the Office at any reasonable, mutually convenient time on any day of the week.
At its recent Meeting, the Parish Council decided that in order to progress the principle of establishing the role of
Parish Archivist, it should get a better idea of just how much archive material is stored in Residents homes. To this
end could anyone with any such material itemise what they have and drop their list into the Parish Council post box at
the Village Hall.
Now that the dark evenings are with us for a few months, it is time to remind cyclists, particularly the younger ones,
that lights on their bikes could quite simply save their lives. Even the most careful driver well within the speed
limit risks harming a cyclist who is riding without lights and, as is usually the case, wearing dark clothing.
The Parish Council asks all parents to please make sure that their child's bike has good lights both front and rear
which are clean and in working order as not to have them is a real danger on the roads of the Village which can so easily
be avoided. Also, for pedestrians as well, remember the old slogan - wear something white at night. Be seen!
