PARISH COUNCIL NEWSLETTER
JULY 2005
NON-INJURY ACCIDENTS
As part of its drive to improve the road safety records of its area, Congleton Borough Council has launched an initiative to now also monitor non-injury accidents. In order to do this, they have asked all Parishes to inform them of any such accidents and to do so by providing any relevant information to allow them to assess the cause of the incident.

To this end, the Parish Council ask any Resident who witnesses a non-injury accident within the Parish boundary to let the Clerk, or in his absence any Parish Councillor, have any details they can regarding the circumstances of the accident and these will be passed on to the Borough by completing a standard pro-forma.
VILLAGE HALL BOOKINGS
The Booking Clerk, Edna Brandreth, is experiencing increasing difficulty with some Village Hall bookings because a number of hirers are not returning their completed Booking Form within a reasonable time from their initial enquiry. This means that Edna is not certain whether the booking is confirmed or not and is in the difficult position of having to decide whether to hold the space and turn down other hirers or to let the slot go and to risk letting down the hirer.

The Parish Council respectfully ask all hirers to return their booking form to Edna as soon as possible so that they, and other potential hirers, are not disappointed.
BOOTHBED LANE PLAY AREA
Many of you have commented on the considerable delay in starting the new play area and the Parish Council sincerely trusts that by the time you read this there will be some evidence of the work starting. The delay has been through a simple but serious problem for the Borough Council in that their original budget of £40,000 for the work was significantly exceeded by £12,000 when the final tenders were received.

The Parish Council has been extremely active in trying to find a way forward on this and there will be more on this in the next Newsletter. In the meantime, however, let us hope that the issue has been resolved and that work will by now have begun
THE PARISH PLAN
Following the launch of the Parish Plan at the Annual Parish Meeting on the 28th April, the Parish Council have been active in progressing at least two of the main requirements for action, namely the Play Area and Traffic Calming, and it is hoped to see evidence of this in the near future.

In the meantime if you have not got your copy of the Parish Plan, there are still some available under the Parish Council notice board in the lobby of the Village Hall.
