A source of recent complaint to the Parish Council is regarding the nuisance of trees and hedges from private
gardens growing over adjacent walkways. The Parish Council respectfully asks all Residents who have properties
with public pavements and paths at their boundaries to make sure that all overhanging branches are removed, at
least to above head height, and that hedges are cut back so as not to impede pavements which are already too
narrow in some cases.
As previously reported in the Parish Newsletter earlier in the year, the Open Garden Event for 2005 was considered
to be a resounding success. This was despite the appalling weather which set in during the afternoon, including
torrential rain and thunder storms!
It appears that not only was a very respectable amount of money raised for charity but the event was enjoyed both
by the visitors and by their hosts. In view of this, the Amenities Committee of the Parish Council has decided to
stage the event again next year, probably during June which will be a little earlier than this year.
The Parish Council hopes that at least the same number of volunteers will be willing to act as hosts for the event so
watch this space for further information.
Following the completion of the new Booth Bed Lane play area, the Parish Council is pleased to report that it is
now being fully used by the children of the Village. This new level of usage has, however, resulted in some problems
regarding parking. Until some permanent solution is found, therefore, the Parish Council asks all parents bringing
their children to the area to either not use a car or, if this is not possible, to park away from the entrance so
as not to cause a hazard to children leaving the site on their own. Thank you for your consideration in this matter
and keep using this excellent new facility.
The Parish Council would like to wish all Residents a Happy Christmas and a Healthy & Prosperous New Year and it
looks forward to seeing you at its Meetings in 2006. Don't forget that the Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of
every month except August, commencing 7.30pm in the Lounge of the Village Hall, so come along and make sure that your
opinions are heard!
